Samsung Galaxy August 11
The Chinese tech giant announced its new Mi MIX Fold phone today, and it looks like a direct competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 2. The device has a similar design to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, with a large display that folds in half. But there are some key differences, most notably the Samsung Galaxy August 11
Xiaomi’s Mi MIX Fold costs $2,499, while the Galaxy Z Fold 2 starts at $2,999.
Xiaomi is positioning the Mi MIX Fold as a productivity-focused device, with a large display that’s ideal for multitasking. The phone has a 7.8-inch main display and a secondary display on the outside. When folded, the phone is about the same size as a standard smartphone.
The Mi MIX Fold is powered by Qualcomm’s
latest Snapdragon 888 processor and comes with 12GB of RAM. It has 256GB of storage, but there’s no option for expandable storage.
The phone has four rear cameras, including a 108-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera. On the front, there’s a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
The Mi MIX Fold runs Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 software, which is based on Android 11. It also comes with a number of productivity features, including the ability to run two apps side-by-side on the main display Samsung Galaxy August 11.
- Xiaomi says the Mi MIX Fold will be available in China starting April 16. There’s no word yet on when or if the phone will be available in other markets.
